As the ceiling flew away…
- Here's a first in Chicago: A Daley was convicted of white-collar crime. So, maybe there's a crack in a Chicago dynasty, some hope for advancement not depending on nepotism… or maybe not so much (it didn't work too well the last time).
Some day, Chicago politicians will grow up and start acting like adults instead of elementary-school playground cliques, with no threats to send an older brother to beat up the kids who don't hand over their lunch money. And the world will be mine, all mine…
- But at least the Chicago clowns were a little more competent than incompetent office supply orders that exposed other really bad tradecraft and a bad plumbing job.
- Each of the preceding link sausages, though, is more honest than international banks. OK, ok, I'll admit that there are some legitimate functions of international banking, even for individuals. International bank secrecy — not so much.
- Nobody is remarking on the irony of Russia blocking Faceplant, purportedly because it's not allowing control of (mis)information regarding the little
SovietRussian army training exercise on the Dniepr, in the face of Russian-government-sponsored spreading of misinformation via Faceplant in the 2016 election cycle (with "plausible deniability" built in). Or we could just let Faceplant die — like it (and other middle-school lunchroom cliques) deserve to. - Meanwhile, sometimes professional athletes show they're more fit for public trust. Admittedly, he needed a little encouragement from the sideline, but he still did it — and that's more than anyone can say for any of the miscreants found elsewhere on the platter.
Nope. Not a coincidence at all that bullying by the popular kids is involved in every item on this platter — including the music of my misspent youth. RIP Gary Brooker.
