It almost lends credence to the nutcases holding "The End Is Nigh" signs down by the park when:
- The Thing on Orangeskull's Head demands, and gets, the firing of the trigger-happy National Security Advisor… and the immediate reaction will be less "thank [insert name of deity here] that loose cannon is gone!" than "good [insert name of deity here], the only real restraint on pure impulse is gone!" I have virtually no respect for Bolton — he's flat-out wrong in everything from his premises to his analysis concerning Southwest Asia and has displayed his ignorance and arrogance for decades, and that's just an area I can speak to from some expertise — but this is just nuts. And, therefore, less surprising than it should be.
- As of this morning, the UK's government has been set aside in furtherance of a tyrant's idiosyncratic, conflict-of-interest-tainted obsession. Are we really sure that the calendar doesn't read 1629? Especially since it's extremely likely that one of the first things that will happen will be not Brexit, but a call for a snap election that will further block effective governance while they repair to the hustings?
- Liberty University is outed as a neo-Drumpfian family real estate empire… and almost nobody notices. Or seems to care. What's that about worshipping Mammon again?
- And meanwhile, the First Amendment's reliance on fraud and copyright piracy gets relegated to an incomplete screed that fails precisely because it does not connect up with context, despite its apparent attempts to do so.
