This is the reality of writing, too: The early drafts are kind of ugly. That most especially includes writing statutes and other legal documents! Those "shitty first drafts" (Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird) are as necessary for serious nonfiction writing—legal and otherwise—at least as much as they are for fiction. All too often, "unedited" writing makes its way into the wild. Journals/blogs/blawgs like this one are really not to be taken all that seriously for their wondrous prose or elegant exposition.
