A few items of interest this morning.
- An article on the futility of book embargoes (free registration required).
- An interview with a former editor at Pantheon who was forced out (characterized as a resignation, but more a case of jumping before he was pushed) in 1990 during the power struggle resulting from S.I. Newhouse's acquisition. The interview claimswink wink nudge nudgethat said editor's new book is not a roman à clef.
- Last Thursday, Judge Winter issued an opinion in the Grokster case dismissing Grokster's antitrust counterclaims against the record industry (PDF, 70k). This is an interesting counterpoint to his previous opinions in the case, first denying Grokster's motion to dismiss for want of personal jurisdiction (PDF, 106k), then granting some of the defendants' motions for partial summary judgment on some copyright claims (PDF, 85k).
