I'm definitely shedding crocodile tears for the Heffalumps, though. The "base" (the nice word for "rightwingnuts") seems rather upset that they're going to be getting an ideologically impure hack like McCain, whereas they'd prefer someone with a similar name who acts first and thinks later (if ever).
On the other hand, the Jackasses are busily engaged in their usual nine-months-'til-election sport of rushing to the center because they're afraid of the L word.
Something tells me I'll be writing in again in November...
